BACKLIT MINERVA MAGIC…
This one absolutely lights up. Fresh out of cleaning and now the entire personality of the piece is on full display — deep saturated violet edges framing an insane glowing golden core like stained glass carved by nature. Hold it to the light and it turns electric.
Classic Minerva No. 1 energy all day… razor sharp cubic growth, rich Illinois “blurple” saturation, and that unreal internal zoning collectors chase so hard. Removing the old bitumen opened everything up — more transparency, more contrast, more fire. Every angle hits differently.
The way the yellow core radiates through the purple body is just next level… bold, dramatic, and unmistakably Illinois. Pieces with this kind of color separation and presence are getting harder and harder to source.
Pure Cave-In-Rock heat.
Fluorite specimen from Minerva No. 1 Mine, Hardin County, Illinois, USA.
