THIS IS MEDINA AQUAMARINE ON ANOTHER LEVEL.
Every once in a while, a piece comes along that reminds me why I’m completely obsessed with the hunt.
This extraordinary 110.60 gram etched Aquamarine from Medina, Minas Gerais, Brazil was recovered back in 1998 — and the combination of color, clarity, size and natural architecture is just ridiculous.
That icy blue-green Medina color absolutely GLOWS. The crystal has incredible transparency, but what really takes it over the top is the wild natural etching. Smooth sculptural surfaces, deep textures, windows and reflections transform as you rotate the crystal in the light.
It almost looks like a piece of frozen tropical water sculpted by the Earth.
And knowing this crystal came out nearly 30 years ago makes it even more special. Finding older Medina material with this kind of presence is exactly what keeps me searching, asking, chasing leads and never giving up on the next acquisition.
Some pieces you buy.
Others you HUNT.
And this one was worth the hunt.
