DAY 2 — LET THE HUNT BEGIN

Starting Day 2 of hunting at the Hardrock Summit Mineral & Gem Show here in Colorado with one seriously special Tanzanite in hand.

Before I hit the show floor searching for the next additions to the collection, I had to give this 42 gram Natural & Unheated Tanzanite from the legendary Merelani Hills a little time in the Colorado morning light.

And WOW… this thing absolutely comes alive.

That electric blue saturation is ridiculous, shifting through deep violet and flashes of golden-bronze as the crystal moves — classic Merelani pleochroism at its finest.

But the real magic is inside. An incredible phantom is suspended within the crystal, preserving an earlier stage of its growth millions of years ago. Add the exceptional transparency, glassy luster, razor-sharp architecture and beautiful twin termination, and this one checks every box for me.
