DENTON MINE COLOR ZONING GONE WILD.
THIS ONE IS A STUNNER.
An incredible old-school Fluorite from the Denton Mine, Hardin County, Illinois absolutely loaded with color — a glowing golden-yellow body surrounded by electric blue, purple and flashes of pink along the edges. Backlit, the zoning just EXPLODES.
The label describes it as light-purple transparent Fluorite over yellow etched Fluorite, with depressed central areas, plus Chalcopyrite and a green coating of unknown composition. An additional label identifies Malachite, Chalcopyrite and Calcite associations.
And then there’s the provenance…
Ex. A.J. & S. Koster Collection — No. 00667
Acquired May 17, 1995
Acquired from North Star Minerals
Later Paul Siegel / Weinrich Minerals, Inc.
