OLD-SCHOOL ELMWOOD PURPLE.
Now THIS is a classic Tennessee fluorite.
A killer deep-purple Fluorite with Dolomite from the legendary Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee — with that rich saturated purple, stepped cubic growth and contrasting light Dolomite that make Elmwood material so recognizable.
Backlit, this beauty absolutely comes ALIVE. The light pushes through the crystal revealing layers of purple zoning and internal architecture while the Dolomite provides the perfect contrast along the edge.
But what really takes this one up a level is the old collection provenance.

Fluorite with Dolomite
Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA
Classic locality. Classic association. Killer purple. And an original collection label still traveling with the specimen.
THIS is the kind of old-school material I love finding.
Earth’s art… with some history attached.
