MINERVA NO. 1 — COLOR ZONING ON ANOTHER LEVEL
Some Illinois Fluorites are beautiful…and then there are pieces like THIS.
An absolutely spectacular Fluorite with Barite from the legendary Minerva Mine No. 1, showing an insane combination of color and geometry.
The first thing that grabs you is that electric blue zone blazing across the top of the main cube. Then your eye moves through layers of deep purple and violet into those gorgeous purple-pink tones, all framing a rich golden amber/orange interior.
These still photos really let you study what makes this specimen so special—the sharp cubic architecture, overlapping crystal growth, incredible internal zoning, and the way completely different colors are stacked inside the Fluorite. Every angle reveals another layer.
And then there’s the provenance.
Ex. Paul Siegel Collection
Ex. Weinrich Minerals, Inc. — St. Louis, Missouri
A serious old-school Illinois collector specimen with the pedigree to match.
That electric blue against the purple, pink and golden amber is absolutely ridiculous. Earth’s art at its finest.
