A WORLD OF COLOR IN IRON.
Some of the most extraordinary minerals aren’t transparent—they’re alive with metallic color.
This incredible specimen of Goethite with Turgite and Hematite from the Bukit Besi Mine, Pahang, Malaysia is a true natural masterpiece. Rounded botryoidal formations are draped in an electric display of iridescent blues, greens, golds, magentas, and violets, while sparkling Hematite adds flashes of mirror-like brilliance throughout the specimen.
Every shift in the light unveils a different spectrum, making it feel more like an abstract painting than an iron oxide mineral. Pieces with this combination of sculptural form, intense iridescence, and aesthetic balance are becoming increasingly difficult to source.
This is the kind of specimen that reminds me why the hunt never stops. Nature’s greatest works of art are often the ones you least expect.
