DENTON MINE COLOR EXPLOSION

This is exactly why the legendary Denton Mine fluorites hit different. An absolutely killer cluster of glassy, gemmy cubic fluorite exploding with golden yellow, lavender, and deep bluish-purple zoning—the color contrast is unreal.

The largest cubes reach just over 3 cm on edge, stacked together in a beautifully chaotic composition. For a specimen of this size from Denton, the condition is outstanding, with only a couple of extremely minor micro-cleaves. Put some light behind it and the entire piece comes alive—the yellows ignite while the purples and blues seem to glow from within.

From the Denton Mine, Hardin County, Illinois, part of the historic Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District and one of America’s legendary fluorite localities.
