This one is just pure mineral art. A gorgeous 25 gram Tourmaline with Lepidolite from the legendary Tourmaline King Mine, San Diego County, California.

The tourmaline has beautiful natural color zoning—deep reddish-brown rising through earthy tones into a rich, transparent forest green. But what really takes this specimen to another level is the scattering of purple to lavender Lepidolite across the crystal, especially concentrated around the termination.

That combination of green tourmaline against flashes of purple lepidolite is absolutely killer. Add the strong vertical striations, glassy areas, and rugged natural termination and the piece has character from every angle.

And the locality makes it even better. The Tourmaline King Mine is one of Southern California’s classic gem-bearing pegmatite localities, part of the historic San Diego County tourmaline story that produced extraordinary crystals more than a century ago.
