Some acquisitions simply don’t come around often… and when they do, you have to be ready.
This newly arrived 110.60 gram aquamarine from the legendary Medina region of Minas Gerais, Brazil was recovered back in 1998, during one of the most iconic periods of Medina production. Crystals from this era with this level of size, color, and natural sculpture have become incredibly difficult to find.
The first thing that drew me in was the smooth, flowing natural etching across every surface. It gives the crystal an almost liquid appearance, as though nature gently sculpted it over millions of years. Pair that with the unmistakable icy blue Medina color and exceptional transparency, and it’s easy to see why these older Medina pieces are so coveted by serious collectors.
This wasn’t a crystal that simply appeared overnight. It took persistence, countless conversations, and a relentless hunt before the right opportunity finally presented itself. Those are always the most rewarding acquisitions—the ones you have to chase.
Moments like this are exactly why I love what I do. The hunt never gets old.
