Tanzanite is the blue-to-violet gem variety of the mineral zoisite, found at a single commercial source on Earth: the Merelani Hills near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. 22sGems focuses on natural, unheated tanzanite crystals with strong pleochroism, where the same stone flashes sapphire blue, royal violet, and burgundy as it rotates in the light. Because Merelani is the only deposit and reserves are finite, sharp, gem-clear, untreated crystals are increasingly difficult to secure.
