This unreal fluorite from the legendary Minerva #1 Mine in the Cave-In-Rock District, Hardin County, Illinois absolutely erupts in sunlight. The cubes stack and interlock with insane geometry while the color shifts between electric grape purple, burnt honey gold, and deep amber depending on the angle.
Pure old-school Illinois magic.
The translucency on this one is ridiculous — every cube lights up individually like stained glass under the sun, revealing layer after layer of phantom zoning and internal architecture. Pieces from Minerva #1 helped define what world-class fluorite looks like, and specimens with this much saturation and life are becoming seriously difficult to find.
